Turbo Air Air-Defrost vs Electric-Defrost Evaporators: Model & Application Guide

Compare Turbo Air air-defrost and electric-defrost evaporator families, exact models, BTU ranges and typical cooler/freezer selection considerations.

Defrost type is one of the fastest ways to narrow a Turbo Air evaporator search after capacity. Air-defrost and electric-defrost unit coolers serve different operating conditions, so buyers should not substitute one for the other based on BTU alone.

Turbo Air air-defrost evaporators

Air-defrost families in our current catalog include ADR, ADM, TCA and selected TTA configurations. Examples range from ADR060AENC at about 6,022 BTU through larger ADM models exceeding 60,000 BTU.

Turbo Air electric-defrost evaporators

Electric-defrost families include LED, MED, MLD, TCE and TTE models. Examples include LED090BENM at about 9,027 BTU and TTE102BENM at about 10,200 BTU.

Why defrost type matters

Lower-temperature applications can accumulate frost that cannot be managed by ordinary off-cycle/air defrost. Electric-defrost systems add heaters and controls designed for those conditions. The complete system design determines which strategy is appropriate.
