P1 vs P2 vs P3 Cabinets: Heatcraft PRO³ Packaged Refrigeration Sizes Explained

The three Heatcraft PRO³ cabinet classes — P1, P2, P3 — and how condensate handling, panel openings, and capacity differ across mortuary cooler sizes.

The Heatcraft PRO³ packaged platform comes in three cabinet classes. Knowing which class rides on your mortuary cooler tells you the panel opening, the drainage behavior, and the service plan.

P1 — the compact indoor cabinet

Indoor-only, roughly 29.7″ long with a 14.25″ × 20.75″ panel opening. Critical detail: P1 models use a 5/8″ external condensate drain line with no internal condensate evaporation — the drain must be connected. Typical on smaller uprights.

P2 — the mid cabinet

52″ cabinet, 25″ × 25″ panel opening, single condenser fan. Includes the internal hot-gas re-evaporation pan — no external drain needed in normal cold-storage conditions, with the 3/4″ NPT connection available for high-humidity or extended-run installs.

P3 — the high-capacity cabinet

Same 52″ length with a wider 38.25″ condenser section, dual fans, and a 25″ × 38.5″ panel opening. Same re-evaporation pan and external drain logic as P2, sized for larger boxes like the 10 Body Dual-Door and 12 Body Triple-Door class.

What buyers should take away

You don't pick the cabinet — we match it to the cooler at the factory. But your site prep changes with the class: P1 always drains externally; P2/P3 drain externally only when humidity and run time demand it. Full dimensional drawings, placement rules, and the current manuals are on the Packaged Refrigeration Manuals & Startup Guide.
