EPA Code U122 Formaldehyde

Formaldehyde, unused commercial solutions, is classified as hazardous waste under EPA code U122. Used formaldehyde-contaminated materials may also be classified as hazardous depending on concentration and state law.

Storage

Secondary containment at 110% of largest container capacity. Hazard labels required. Segregate from incompatibles. Store in well-ventilated area.

Disposal

Use licensed hazardous waste hauler and permitted disposal facility. Do NOT drain, landfill, or burn without proper authorization. Typical cost: $2-10/gallon.
