Animal Aftercare Cold Storage: Size & Site Planning Guide

A purchasing guide for veterinary facilities and pet crematories comparing walk-in cooler layouts. Start with your workflow, then check the exact model and installation requirements.

Plan from the transfer route inward

  1. Document your workflow

Record receiving and collection schedules, the range of animal sizes handled and how items move through your facility. Use your own operating procedures to determine storage needs.

  2. Measure the equipment

List the outside dimensions of carts, racks and containers, including handles and turning space. A nominal room size does not tell you whether a loaded cart can turn inside.

  3. Draw the route

Measure entrances, hallways, thresholds and the proposed cooler opening. Mark the door swing, approach direction and any changes in floor level.

  4. Review the exact configuration

Compare the model specifications with the drawing. Confirm usable interior dimensions, finished exterior dimensions, refrigeration clearances and electrical requirements before placing the order.

Compare available walk-in model sizes

These are published nominal model sizes in feet, not guaranteed usable interior measurements. Open a model for its current specifications, base price and available options. Pet aftercare use does not change the model’s listed pricing or configuration.

Check the site before choosing add-ons

Doors & access

Confirm the opening width, hinge and door location against the loaded equipment route. Include clearance for the door swing and the staff using it.

Floor & ramp

The insulated floor is optional and priced separately. The optional 36-inch external ramp adds $895 and requires an insulated floor and the 36-inch standard door. Review the slab and threshold before selecting either.

Refrigeration & utilities

Select the refrigeration configuration for the specific model. Have qualified trades review the installation environment, power, condensate handling and service access.

Use the factory drawing and selected equipment specifications for final dimensions and clearances. Your facility’s procedures and applicable requirements determine operating conditions; this purchasing guide does not set a storage temperature or holding time.
