How to choose
Power
Manual hydraulic lifts need no charging. Battery-powered lifts are faster and easier on staff when you make many transfers a day.
Capacity
Plan for bariatric cases. The heavy-duty lifts above are rated at about 1,000 lb, and some exceed it.
Fit
Check aisle width in your walk-in and door widths on the path. Leave room to turn the lift square to the rack.
Top style
A multi-directional roller top works with both end-loading and side-loading racks. Roller locks hold the tray during travel.
Scale
An integrated scale records case weight at the lift, with no second transfer to a floor scale.
Pair the lift with the right rack
Side-loading racks work when the lift approaches from the long side; end-loading racks suit narrow aisles. Most of our roller racks put the first tier at 21 inches, which works with most hydraulic lifts, and space each tier 16.25 inches apart. Low-profile 5-tier racks start at 12 inches. Frequently asked questions
Do I need a lift with a walk-in cooler?
If you store bodies on racks above waist height, yes. A lift is the safest way to load upper tiers.
Can a lift load a crematory?
Yes. Low-profile and scissor lifts are commonly used for crematory loading; check the retort door height. See crematory scissor lifts.
What is the difference between a lift and a lift trolley?
A lift raises and lowers at one spot. A lift trolley is a stainless cart that both lifts and transports, built to your cooler opening and rack heights.
Will one lift work with all my racks?
Usually, if every tier falls within the lift's height range and the top can load in the racks' direction. A multi-directional roller top covers both end and side loading.
