Required Air Clearance & Owner Maintenance β€” Policy VC-1.1

Standard on all AMC drop-in refrigeration systems. These are conditions of warranty coverage, not recommendations.

  • 1″–1.5β€³ minimum air gap around the entire cabinet β€” all sides and rear, maintained permanently.
  • 16β€³ minimum unobstructed clearance above and around the compressor / condensing unit for airflow, heat rejection, and service access.
  • No shelving, cabinetry, soffits, dropped ceilings, boxed enclosures, adjacent equipment, or stored goods may encroach on either envelope.

Owner Maintenance Responsibility

The customer is responsible for ongoing maintenance of the compressor and refrigeration system, including annual professional service as needed β€” coil cleaning, drain-line clearing, gasket inspection, and verification of refrigerant charge and temperature performance. Routine maintenance, consumables, labor, and service calls are not warranty items.

Published exterior dimensions do not include required clearance β€” add it when planning your space. Full terms: Ventilation & Clearance Policy (VC-1.1) Β· Warranty Policy (WR-1.0)

Important β€” Read Before Startup: 2026 Packaged Refrigeration System

Due to the changing refrigerant models under new Freon regulations and updated guidelines, it is critical that you completely read all startup instructions before using your packaged refrigeration system. Please be sure you understand your startup settings and the proper overflow and humidity drainage ports, which require hose adapters.

Condensation Drain Requirement

All 2026 Heatcraft compressors require a drain hose attached to the drain port for condensation, to maximize energy efficiency. Connect the supplied drain line to the drain port before startup.

External Drain Connection

In high-humidity environments or during continuous heavy run-times, the unit may experience overflow. To prevent this, the indoor unit is equipped with a 3/4β€³ NPT external drain connection that can be routed to an external drain line or a field-supplied condensate pump.

Internal Re-Evaporation

Indoor PROΒ³ models include a hot-gas re-evaporation pan beneath the compressor, which uses hot refrigerant gas to evaporate condensation naturally during normal operation.

2026 and Forward β€” Heatcraft PROΒ³

2026 and later packaged Heatcraft PROΒ³ systems include many new features made possible by an extremely high-efficiency process. Reviewing the startup documentation ensures these systems perform as designed.

American Mortuary Coolers accepts no liability or responsibility for a customer’s failure to properly start up the new AW2 fully packaged, plug-in refrigeration units. If you have specific questions regarding functions and operations, please reach out prior to ordering.

Upright vs. roll-in vs. shell & cot compatibility

This product is the upright rack-loading bariatric 2-body, built for funeral homes and morgues handling occasional-to-recurring bariatric cases that don’t want the floor-area commitment of a walk-in or the cot-tied workflow of a roll-in. Compare to:

Cot and tray compatibility: pairs with the 1000E Bariatric Cot and Double Width Removal Tray. For vertical case transfer, the 1,000-lb Hydraulic Scissor Lift.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from the 2-Body Extra Wide Roll-In?

This is an upright rack-loading cabinet β€” bodies are transferred onto an internal rack. The roll-in version keeps the case on the cot inside the cooler.

What electrical supply does it need?

A dedicated 115V / 20-amp circuit. The unit draws 4.6 running amps and ships with a NEMA 5-20R cord and plug β€” plug-and-play, no hard-wiring. See the Electrical & Compressor Specifications above.

How much clearance does it need around it?

A minimum 1β€³ to 1.5β€³ air gap around the entire cabinet, plus 16β€³ of unobstructed clearance above the compressor. This is standard on all drop-in refrigeration systems and is a condition of warranty coverage β€” see the Ventilation & Clearance Policy (VC-1.1).

Who is responsible for maintaining the compressor?

The owner. The customer is responsible for ongoing maintenance of the compressor and refrigeration system, including annual professional service as needed. Routine maintenance, cleaning, consumables, and service labor are not warranty items.

Do I need a drain line?

In high-humidity or high-temperature environments, yes β€” attach a hose to the external drain connection and route to a drainage source. See the packaged refrigeration manuals page.

What temperature does it maintain?

34–40Β°F body holding standard.

Does the 1000E Bariatric cot fit through the door?

Yes. Extra-wide cabinet clearance accommodates the 1000E case envelope.

What’s the lead time?

2 business days for in-stock configurations.

Can it be financed?

Yes. 0% Shop Pay Installments. Qualifies for extended financing.

Where is it made?

Johnson City, Tennessee. American Mortuary Coolers, family-owned since 2009, A+ Rated by the Better Business Bureau.
