Mortuary Scissor Lift vs Ceiling-Mounted Lift

A mobile mortuary scissor lift supports a load on a raised platform. A ceiling-mounted lift uses an overhead lifting arrangement. Compare the transfer task, available route and installation scope before choosing either system.

This guide is for facility planning. The linked products are mobile lifts; no ceiling-mounted lift is offered on this page.

Scissor lifts vs ceiling-mounted lifts: compare the work, not just the lifting capacity

Begin with a written transfer sequence: where the case starts, how it is supported, where it needs to finish and what equipment it must pass. A tray-to-rack movement and a strap-supported positioning task are different requirements. Neither lift type should be treated as universally interchangeable.

Questions to resolve during lift selection
Planning point Mobile scissor lift Ceiling-mounted lift
Load support Check the platform, tray support and loading direction for the selected model. Check the approved lifting straps, attachments and suspended-load procedure for the selected system.
Movement through the room Measure lift footprint, turning space, door openings, floor conditions and travel height. Confirm the stationary lifting area or specified track route, including transfer points and obstructions.
Installation scope Confirm receiving, setup, charging needs and any required accessories. Obtain a project-specific review of supports, mounting, headroom, power and installation responsibilities.
Rack and table transfer Match actual rolling-surface heights, reach, tray dimensions and approach direction. Ask how the suspended load will be supported and positioned at each receiving surface.
Budget comparison Include the lift, selected top, scale if needed, accessories, freight and setup. Request an itemized scope for the lift, mounting or track components, installation and any building work.
Operating requirements Use the model's manual for braking, loading, movement, maintenance and inspections. Use the system manufacturer's procedures for attachments, inspection and operation.

For an existing overhead system, send its model, approved attachments and installation drawings to the responsible equipment professional. Do not assume a mobile lift replaces a body-turning procedure, or that an overhead device can serve every rack tier.

Mortuary scissor lift models & current prices

Prices below follow the native product configurations. Compare the specified top, scale options, dimensions and operating manual on each product page. Accessories, freight and selected options may change the total.

Related native configuration listings: Low Profile Mortuary Lift and GEN1 Mortuary Lift. These are not presented as additional distinct lift designs. Draft-only products are not included.

Check actual transfer height before choosing a scissor lift

Measure the surface that actually supports the tray, not only the structural rail or bare deck. Rollers, ball transfers, scale hardware and tray geometry can change the contact height. Check the lowest and highest positions separately, together with approach clearance and the support needed while crossing the transfer gap.

For coordinated storage, review racks and lifts, body trays and boards and the mortuary lift systems guide. HD plastic body boards are supported-storage barriers, not lifting, carrying or transfer supports.

Racks, trays and lifts for your cooler

Plan the storage system and its transfer equipment together. Review end-loading racks, side-loading racks and cantilever racks against the required tray dimensions, tier contact heights and approach direction. No lift-to-rack fit is implied by a related-product link.

Strap-style alternatives include the TITAN manual body and casket lifter and TITAN Power Body & Casket Lift XL. Casket jacks and replacement body lift straps are related accessories, not scissor-lift models. Confirm attachment suitability before ordering.

Mortuary & crematory lift questions

What is a mortuary scissor lift used for?

A scissor lift raises a supported load to a transfer position. Depending on the documented model and fit, tasks can include rack loading, table transfers and crematory positioning. The required support, height and approach must be checked for each task.

What does the manual crematory lift cost?

The H1000-M starts at $4,153.05 USD for the native starting configuration. Use the product page to select scale options and request freight and delivery terms for the destination. This is not a delivered-price guarantee.

How low does a crematory scissor lift go?

The H1000-M lists a 20.5 inch minimum deck height. The 1030-LPL low-profile model lists 13 inches before ball-transfer and optional-scale allowances. Neither figure establishes compatibility with a particular bottom rack tier.

Can I add an integrated scale?

The native H1000-M, 1030-LPL and HD 1000 MAX G1 listings include scale configurations. Review the exact option, price and effect on loading height for the selected model.

Does the 1,000 lb rating include every lift?

No. Ratings are model-specific. The covered cadaver scissor lift lists 800 lb, while the H1000-M, 1030-LPL and HD 1000 MAX G1 list 1,000 lb. Confirm the permitted total load and loading procedure in the selected model's documentation.

How should I compare a mortuary lift company?

Ask for the current model manual, rated load, measured transfer range, top dimensions, warranty terms, maintenance information and an itemized quote. Compare the complete equipment and delivery scope rather than relying on a starting price or an unsupported review score.

What about delivery, returns and financing?

Request a destination-specific freight and delivery quote before ordering. Review the returns and cancellations policy and warranty policy for the selected configuration. Ask the purchasing team about available payment arrangements; approval and terms must be confirmed separately.

Get a lift quote based on your actual transfer

Send the equipment models, pickup and receiving heights, loaded tray or container dimensions, total supported weight and room-access measurements. Include the delivery ZIP code, receiving equipment and any scale or charging requirements so the quote can identify what is included.
