Mortuary Deck System Weight Capacities & Load Planning

Knowing the numbers — upper deck capacity, system weight, and minimum wheelbase — keeps your loads safe and your vehicle within spec. Here's how to plan a load across the AME deck lineup.

Capacity specs at a glance

System Upper deck capacity System weight Min. wheelbase
AME-DD-EX2 600 lbs. 536–560 lbs. Metris SWB/LWB
AME-DD2000-XLC 600 lbs. 750 lbs. 140 in.
AME-DD4000 600 lbs. 725 lbs. 144–159 in.

Two numbers that matter for load planning

  • Upper deck capacity (600 lbs.) — the maximum on the powered level. Plan heavier loads on the lower deck where practical.
  • System weight — the deck itself consumes payload. Add it to your loads when checking the vehicle's GVWR.

Don't forget vehicle payload (GVWR)

Your van has a gross vehicle weight rating. Deck weight + loads + operator + fuel must stay under it. On a full-size van the 725–750 lb. system weight is modest, but it still counts — verify against your specific vehicle's payload.

Load distribution tips

  • Heavier loads low and centered for stability.
  • Secure every load with bier pins and cot cups, even short trips.
  • Don't exceed 600 lbs. on the upper deck.

Frequently asked questions

What's the maximum weight on the upper deck?

600 lbs. across the AME double-deck lineup, with reinforced lifting geometry for daily use.

Does the deck system reduce my usable payload?

Yes — the 725–750 lb. system weight counts against GVWR. Factor it in when planning maximum loads.
