Mortuary Cooler Troubleshooting & FAQ | Solve Cooling, Drain & Power Issues

Quick answers to common questions about body coolers, racks, power, and performance.

🚨 General Troubleshooting

❄️ My mortuary cooler isn’t cooling. What should I do?

  • Check the power source: Confirm the unit is securely plugged in and the outlet is live.

  • Inspect the thermostat: Ensure the thermostat is set between 36°F–39°F, the recommended storage temperature.

  • Check compressor status: Listen for humming or vibration—if silent, your compressor may have tripped.

  • Inspect door seals: A leaking seal can cause temperature loss.

🌡️ The temperature inside fluctuates too much.

  • Ensure the cooler is not placed near direct sunlight or external heat sources (boilers, ovens, etc.).

  • Frequent door opening can cause cycles of warm air entry.

  • Blocked evaporator fan vents from stacked items can disrupt airflow—reorganize racks or trays.

  • Clean the condenser coils and check for dust or debris buildup.

💧 Water is pooling at the bottom of the unit.

  • Most likely cause: clogged drain line.

  • Solution: flush the drain using warm water and a flexible drain brush.

  • Check for a frozen line if the cooler is in an unheated space—consider a drain line heater.

🔌 The unit trips my circuit breaker.

  • Check voltage requirements: 110V and 220V coolers must match your building’s wiring.

  • Avoid using extension cords or daisy-chained outlets.

  • Inspect power cord for frays or wear.

Always consult a licensed electrician if electrical issues persist.

📦 Installation & Setup

📏 Will the cooler fit through my door?

Most upright and 3-rack units require a 36"–48" clearance. Always check the crate dimensions before delivery.

🔌 Does it require a dedicated outlet?

Yes. We recommend a dedicated 15–20 amp circuit for 110V units or a 30 amp circuit for 220V models.

🧱 Can I install this in a garage or non-climate-controlled room?

Yes, but we recommend:

  • Proper ventilation around the compressor

  • Drainage support to handle condensation

  • In cold regions: add a drain heater to prevent freezing

🛠 Racks & Accessories

🛏️ What rack types work with this cooler?

We support:

  • Fixed racks (bolt-in or welded)

  • Roll-in racks with locking casters

  • Stackable trays for surge capacity

  • Hydraulic, manual, and electric lifts compatible with rack rails

Contact us for compatibility if you have legacy racks.

🔩 One of my rack wheels is stuck. What should I do?

  • Inspect for debris in the caster or hairline rust

  • Apply food-safe lubricant (e.g., NSF-rated spray)

  • Check for bent axles or damaged weld points

🧽 Cleaning & Maintenance

🧼 How often should I clean the cooler interior?

We recommend sanitizing interior surfaces weekly, or immediately after each use, using non-corrosive disinfectants.
Avoid bleach and harsh solvents.

🧯 Can I pressure wash the inside?

No. High-pressure water can damage electrical components and void warranty. Use low-moisture spray and microfiber cloths.

🔐 Warranty & Support

📄 What’s the warranty on your coolers?

  • Standard warranty: 1 year on parts, 5 years on compressor (varies by model)

  • Extended warranties available for government, university, and medical clients

  • All units ship with a warranty document in the packaging

⏱️ How fast can I get a replacement part?

We stock most critical parts (compressors, fans, thermostats, seals) and can overnight them in urgent cases
